Environmental Education
Thanks to a generous grant from the Lincoln Financial Group Foundation, the Fairmount Park Conservancy has been able to work with Fairmount Park staff to transport students, teachers, campers, and chaperones to the Park’s Environmental Centers. Since 2004, more than 10,000 people and 250 classes have benefited from the ECObus program.
Located among the 1,600 plus acres of woodlands, meadows, trails, and streams in Fairmount Park – a visit to the Pennypack and Wissahickon Environmental Centers is an experience like none other. Staff from the Park’s Environment, Stewardship, & Education Division engage students in a variety of environmental programs such as creek study, orienteering, wildlife, forest ecology, beginner birding, history, archaeology and maple sugaring.
We are grateful to the Lincoln Financial Group Foundation for supporting this program; providing the perfect opportunity for students to learn about environmental stewardship, practically in their own back yards.
